    What I look for: people who have done it before in a similar setting, such as PE reporting, HGB and IFRS, or a systems change, and who can lead a team through it.

    Typical briefs: building an in-house tax function, bringing transfer pricing in from outside advisers, or tax work around an acquisition or exit.

    What I look for: deep technical knowledge, plus the commercial judgement to advise a CFO and a board.

    Typical briefs: the company's first General Counsel, or a legal team that has to support new investors, M&A or international expansion.

    What I look for: lawyers who think like business partners, who say “yes, and here’s how” rather than just “no”.
